|
|
I'm currently looking for a good source of music for videos. I'm not particularly keen on using copywrited music, then letting the might of the recording industry fall down on me.
Currently my options are:
1) Local bands
2) royalty free music compilations (usually rather poor)
3) paying royalties on music
4) Making music
The third option I've found is difficult... I email people and they refer me to other people, and they don't reply... it's almost as if they don't want me to even consider paying music royalties (they probably worry how much it's going to cost)
I was also wondering if there was a special deal that could be/has been arranged through rotary for sources of music.
as for 4), well, I played the trombone at school..... |

Hi John
I looked into this when we produced the RGBI promotion presentation and the Rotaract Overseas Project presentation (both PowerPoint files burnt onto a CD). You need to purchase a licence from the MCPS-PRS Alliance (http://www.mcps-prs-alliance.co.uk/Pages/default.aspx). It's not a huge amount of money (£30 or so, I seem to remember) and it depends on the use of the music and the number of copies you're making. And, strangely, you don't actually specify the music you wish to use.

I must confess.. It's a rather confusing and bewildering array of options, none of which seem to fit.
You say you don't have to specify the music... is there a restricted pool of artists you can use material from? |

| I managed to dig out the paperwork. We got what is called a "Limited Availability Licensing Agreement" which "allows the quick and efficient licensing of non-corporate audio and audio-visual productions that are of a non-commerical nature and that have a total manufacturing quantity of less than 500 copies." I can't find info about this on the website anymore though, and the URL I had for this document no longer exists. I can fax you what I have if you private message me a fax number. It says you can get further clarification from a Media Licensing Advisor on 020 7306 4500 or limitedavailability@mcps.co.uk |

Easy and cheap solution. Buy a karaoke CD (available from all good record stores) and record yourself singing over the top in the style of the original artist. No copyright on that. _________________ JUSDINOLIVER |

I found a site with a mix of stuff, some good, some sounds a bit coroporate video-ish
http://www.incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/
I contacted the various web sites involved with music video licensing and I kept getting these hideously large forms to fill out. |

There are a lot of royalty free sites out there and they do have their own take on what exactly you can do with their music, so it’s best to read the terms before you buy. Also, you need to think about what sort of music you want to support your production, what feeling you are trying to convey.i know a site Royalty Free music where we can download royalty free songs by paying very nominal charges.I have downloaded many music from here and i always check this site for latest releases.I think you may try it. _________________ Royalty Free Music! |
